The First Quilt I Ever Made...

was a simple railroad block, using a jelly roll and some yardage that I cut into strips.   Absolutely no measuring - I just eyeballed the first set of strips, cut them, and then I had the size of the subsequent blocks.

I wish now I'd kept note of the name of the original jelly roll - I dont' think it was a complete one, and I did mix it with a honey bun of patriotic fabric strips, as well as some yardage cut into strips from a local quilt store.

This is Chili inspecting the stitching and at the same time getting a feel for the loft - I used a polyester batting, and stitched in the ditch to keep the layers together.

The back is pieced.  The Joel Dewberry scallop fabric is centred,  with a star border all the way around (unevenly.  The quilt is bound with a solid navy fabric.

I completed this quilt on the 23rd November 2010.  It belongs to my youngest son.
